June 29th '08 Match Report (Birks Holt Tournament)

We kicked off our pre-season tournaments on an over cast Sunday morning at Birks Holt sports club.

Our first game was against Woolaton Hall. It was a tense first game. We settled well and played some good football. Kelly delivered a great free kick that was headed just wide by Amy. We were unlucky not to get the win. A great first game and a 0-0 draw.

Our next game was against Bolton Wood. We started well, playing some nice football. Then we lost concentration a little and started defending too deep. We held out against a sustained onslaught. Both Kelly and Toni came close to breaking the dead lock. In the end though, we were lucky to get away with a well earned point. Girls doing well at min but we need a goal!!!!!!!

Next up is Edlington Royals. We started really well Akila almost scoring from the kick off. We were on the attack from then on. Anna struck a fierce shot that the keeper could only parry away, which left her shaking her hands she really felt that one! Then it was Amy’s turn to shoot and she scored a brilliant goal with a low shot. Our first goal and Amy’s first for us. A well deserved win and 3 points. Gives us 5 points so far. Well Done Girls.

With just 2 games to go up next is the team we hate to play more than any other, yes, Sheffield Wednesday. With our first goal and win behind us the girls were up for this one. We took the game to them and they didn’t know what to do as they weren’t expecting this. Most of the game took place in their half of the pitch. Kelly, Akila and Toni all came close to breaking the dead lock but we finished with a 0-0 draw. 6 points, a win in the last game would put us top and into the semi finals.

Last game of the group stages and were up against Steel City. Another team we never seem to do well against. Both teams need to win to go on.
We started poorly and conceded an early goal. This gave us the kick we needed though and we started to play better. Kelly and Toni came close to scoring. It wasn’t to be though and they scored a second. It was all over for us………..
2-0 defeat. We didn’t deserve it ………..

In reflection we played some great football the girls should be proud of themselves. It was a great day out enjoyed by both players and their families. Pity it had to end so soon and with a defeat. The rain that had threatened all day held off though.

WELL PLAYED GIRLS …………

July 6th '08 Match Report (Darfield 6-a-side Tournament)

This tournament will be remembered not for the football, but for the appalling weather. An boy did it rain. We still managed to have a lot of fun. The parents in particular.

The girls didn’t seem to wake up at all, all-day. We started badly; loosing the first game 3-0. We did manage 2 goal-less draws. In between we lost to Sheffield Wednesday yet again 2-0. After our last game in the group stages we thought it was all over, and took down the gazebo and packed up to go home. Only to be told we’d made it through to the semi-finals. What a laugh! We hadn’t won a game or scored a single goal (well we did score 2 own goals). We just couldn’t believe it. We lost the game 4-0 I think we’d given up on the play and just had a great laugh. Naomi scored a cracking goal just a pity it was in the wrong net.

All though we didn’t play very well and the rain was unrelenting I think I can say a great day was had by all.

Match Report 12 July 2008
Hoyland Common Falcons.
(Friendly)

I really don’t know where to start with this match. I will start by saying we didn’t have our full team playing. We had to beg and borrow a few players due to injury and holiday commitments. We didn’t start well going a goal down in the first 10 minutes. Due mainly to silly mistakes. If we thought things would get better we were sadly mistaken. We lost another two goals before half time. All three goals were down to silly mistakes. Our goal keeper (who we had borrowed) played well and made some good saves to keep us in the game. We started the second half a lot better. We were awarded a penalty for shirt pulling and up stepped Kelly. I thought this was what we needed to get us back in the game, sadly for Kelly she hit the ball down the middle of the goal, and straight at the keeper who never moved. We were certainly starting to play football as we know we can. Kelly took a free kick, and up came Jemma with her first goal. We were starting to pass the ball around and looking like we could score a few more goals. It wasn’t meant to be though and we conceded another three goals losing 6 - 1. Player of the match went to our goalie. Without whom it would have been far worse.
We didn’t look awake in the first half at all, with passes going astray, and most of the girls looking like they didn’t have a clue what they were doing. I have to say in training they look good. There passing is great but when it comes to a game they forget what they are suppose to do.

Match Report 13 September 2008
HANDSWORTH
1 - 2
ROTHERHAM UNITED U15's
        Akila, Anna

The long awaited season has finally arrived. We were away at Handsworth.

Before I tell you about the game I’d like to take this opportunity to say, I feel both Andy and Lee have done a great job with the training, working on fitness and ball control. I feel the girls have come on in leaps and bounds this summer. They’re showing a vast improvement with their passing and movement.

So on with the game, I know I wasn’t the only parent eagerly awaiting the start of the season. Kick off was moved forward to 10.30 something to do with a big premier league game kicking off at lunch time. More about this later.

We started the game brightly taking the game to Handsworth. We were playing some fantastic football. Our passing and movement was the best I’ve seen us play. We were rewarded with a brilliantly taken goal from Akila (0-1). We were enjoying a lot of the ball and playing great football. Spurning some great chances to increase our lead. As all ways happens in football some how Handsworth got the equaliser.  The half finished as it started all square (1-1).

We started the second half as we always do half asleep. It looked as if we had made 10 changes at the break. As the half progressed we started to play lovely football again. Our second goal came from a Kelly’s free kick, and Anna getting on the end of it and lobbing the keeper. With the score now 1-2 it’s the least we deserve. We were all over Handsworth pushing for another goal, Zoe was brought down in the area, “Penalty”. Kelly is given the responsibility of taking the spot kick. Unlucky again “it’s saved” The game finishes with us winning our first game of the season, 3 well deserved points.

Man of the match was given to the “whole team”. A FANTASTIC WIN. 1-2 WELL DONE GIRLS A GREAT TEAM EFFORT.

Can’t wait for the next game.

Back to the big game yesterday Liverpool v Manchester Utd Liverpool won it 2-1

5-0
NEW LODGE
  Tanya, Kelly 2, Zoe, Toni

Our first home game of the season! Kick off was 10.30am, Our girls seemed to be up for this game. After last weekend’s brilliant start to the season, and a fine display we were in a buoyant mood.

We were down to the bare 11 player’s and with no subs we knew it was going to be hard on the girls. The sun was shining brightly and was very warm at kick off. The referee agreed to a short break in each half to allow both teams a quick drink.

We started the game brightly taking the game to New Lodge. We parents could not believe what we were seeing or hearing, the girls were wanting the ball and actually asking for it! “I know it’s hard to believe, but it was happening”. We were all over New Lodge from the first whistle and seemed to score with our first chance. I must say I thought the goal was scored by Vicky, but after speaking to her after the game, it was (and you won’t believe this) scored by Tanya. A looping shot that bounced over the keeper as she rushed out to make the save. Beaten by the bounce! Zoe up front played really well and was unlucky on a few occasions being marked really well by the opponent’s good defense. Her reward then finally coming with a superbly taken goal.

We went in at half time 2-0 up.

The second half was started as the first, with us playing some great football. Toni was having a brilliant game in the centre of midfield, Steph was brilliant on the right making some fantastic runs and crossing the ball in to the box for Zoe. Poor Steph had to go off injured just into the second half. We were down to 10 girls. Vicky was moved to centre back she was suffering with a bad back. Tanya was having a great game playing on the left and supporting the striker, and was unlucky not to score again.

Our third goal came from Kelly with a great shot from a long way out on the wing beating the keeper with the bounce. We were playing very well, we were caught out a few times at the back but Naomi had a great game in goal, making a couple of fantastic saves. Their goalie handled the ball outside the box giving us a free kick. Up stepped Kelly who belted the ball straight through the wall and past the keeper who never moved 4-0. Kelly who was now trying for a hat trick was trying her luck from everywhere. One such chance keeper pushed out and Toni coming in looking for the spill took it well scoring her first goal of the season and our fifth 5-0. What a fantastic game with a lot of good football played, our passing and movement is exceptional.

Man Of The Match was awarded by the referee and given to Toni she had a fantastic game. Well done Toni.

WELL DONE TO ALL THE GIRLS FOR A GREAT GAME OF FOOTBALL.

Andy and Lee have done a fantastic job.

Manager Comment : I just want to add, the girls were fantastic and it was an absolute pleasure to watch them, and SHOUT at them too. They wanted the win and the deserved it. All credit goes to each and every one of them for doing the job on the field. Quick mention for Steph, hope your leg is better soon.

WISEWOOD JUNIORS
Toni, Kelly 2, Zoe, Akila 3, Beth 3, Carly

Another early start, 10.30 kick off, morning started at 9.30 with the issue of a brand new kit. In the colours of Rotherham Utd, I’ve got to say they did look smart.

After the taking of team photos the game kicked off.

We started really well, getting straight in to the opposition. Our first real chance comes from an indirect free kick after the keeper picked up a back pass. Naomi, almost getting on the end of it. We were playing great attacking football with Naomi hitting the post Zoe followed up and put the rebound in. 1-0 Rotherham. Seems all the football is being played in their half. The second goal came from a brilliant cross from Kinny, finding Toni in the middle of the area unmarked and firing a cracking shot pass the keeper, giving her no chance at all 2-0. Akila and Toni both had chances to increase our lead. Akila hit the post and Toni chipped the keeper and the cross bar. Our third goal came from a header from Toni on to Akila, whose shot was saved and pushed out by the keeper back to Akila who made no mistake this time. 3-0 up and could have been more. Half time.

We swapped keepers at half time Naomi going in and Beth coming out. The second half started as the first had finished. Beth adding number 4, beating the defence and slotting the ball just inside the post. Akila got number 5 running through the defence and stuck the ball neatly home. We were on a run playing great and exciting football. Beth got her 2nd and our 6th. Its all one way, I don’t remember either of our keepers making a save. Kinny was having a great game on the wing and putting some great balls into the box. Goal number 7 came from a fantastic cross from Kinny finding Carly at the back post unmarked tapping the ball into the net. Goal number 8 came from Beth with a fierce shot that the keeper couldn’t keep out, just managed to push it up under the bar, giving Beth her first hat trick. We parents on the touch line couldn’t believe what we were watching. Our girls were playing fantastic passing footy. Kelly came charging through from midfield turning the defender brilliantly before unleashing an unstoppable brilliant shot straight into the net. That’s 9-0 it’s a rout. Almost from the restart Kelly unleashed another thunder bolt hitting the bar. We could have scored again had their keeper not made some great saves. Akila makes it 10 with her hat trick, with a great goal sprinting pass the defence and slipping the ball past the keeper. We hadn’t finished yet Kelly in my opinion saved the best till last with the best goal of the match. Smashing the ball from out side the box and into the top of the net. What a fantastic game.

Referee gave Man Of The Match to Beth well done and well deserved.
WELL DONE GIRL’S ! A FANTASTIC MATCH. HOPE YOU ENJOYED PLAYING IT AS MUCH AS US PARENTS ENJOYED WATCHING YOU.

Match report by Ivor.

Manager Comments: It was an amazing display of football. Another clean sheet is fantastic, that’s like winning at both ends and a testimony to how well our defence protected our goal. They cleared up everything that came through. Glad I didn’t have to pick a MoM because at the moment you are all doing great. Still a long season ahead, keep your feet on the ground and keep working hard.

ROTHERHAM UNITED U15's
        Tanya, Naomi, Akila 2, Kelly

An early start for the girls 10.30am kick off. The weather wasn’t great very cold and raining.  We didn’t start well our passing wasn’t what we’ve come to expect this season. I must say I never thought I’d be saying that. Our first sight of goal came to Tanya putting it yards wide though. It didn’t take long though for us to get our noses in front with a cracking goal from no other than Tanya played in from Kelly and Tanya slipped the ball under the diving keeper. 1-0 Rotherham. Although we weren’t playing to our normal standard we were in front. We were attacking with speed, it was no surprise when the next goal came our way. The surprise was the scorer Naomi, the ball coming to her through a crowed of defenders and Naomi poking the ball past the keeper. 2-0 up and looking like were still half asleep. I have to say that although we weren’t playing well we were playing the better football. The next chance came to Zoe with a cracking shot palmed out by the keeper Akila was first to the loose ball and slotted past the keeper 3-0. Looked like we home and dry. Half time.

Second half started like the first with us looking like we were still asleep. It was still a surprise with us parents when we conceded. Goal coming after a deflection giving our keeper Beth no chance 3-1. Our passing wasn’t good at all giving the ball away to easy. With us conceding it seem to wake us a little the game was getting very scrappy. Next goal was going to be crucial, didn’t look like either team would score though, but score we did.  I might be biased but Kelly scored a brilliant goal from nothing. She hit the ball from outside the area giving the poor keeper no chance at all. What a goal!. I have to say my notes say game over 4-1. I hadn’t counted on Akila, she had other idea’s a fantastic through ball from Toni and Akila pounced through the defence before shooting into the top corner, a great goal 5-1. Full time.

Man Of The Match named by the referee was Toni well done.

I must say I agree with both Andy and Lee as much as we didn’t play well, our passing wasn’t the best we’ve seen, but we did win and won well at 5-1.

Talking to other parents on the touch line in weather that was cold and wet and the pitch was narrow. We played below par but we won.

WELL DONE GIRLS WERE PROUD OF YOU .

Match report by Ivor.

Manager Comments: First of all I want to say congratulations for a hard earned win. I was very vocal during this game, mainly down to how sloppy we were. Our passing was poor and we caused ourselves more problems than was needed. Mistakes will always happen and its at those times you are wanting that bit of luck that is always needed to win games. However I did make it clear that anyone ducking out of an header would immediately be substituted, this happened to one of the players I least expected it from but it had the desired affect and after 5 minutes on the bench she was fantastic.

You have had a great start to the season and I want that to continue, but that won't happen unless we start every game with the right attitude. Every game will be different and every win has to be earned. From the defence to the attack you all have to work hard. Every ball has to be challenged for and we play to the final whistle. We have to stay committed and work hard even when you think it is easy.

THORNCLIFFE GIRLS
  Akila 2, Tanya, Lucy

Another early start for the girls at least we are at home, no travelling today. The sun was shining for a change, and we had a good crowd it was lovely to see some new faces on the touch line.

We started slowly, our passing wasn’t what we’ve come to expect. We were sluggish and slow. Although the game was being played in the opponents half we looked half asleep. It took awhile for us to get a sight of goal with our first half chance falling to Toni, her shot going wide. The break through coming with a defence splitting pass from Zoe, with Akila running through and clipping the keeper with a superb shot. 1-0 up just what we needed. The game continued in much the same way till half time. We had 90% of the ball but could not find our passing game. 1-0 half time.

The second half started better our passing improved we were finding our team mates rather than the opposition. Tanya doubled our lead with a brilliant goal. Anna crossed from the right into the area, Tanya was first to react placing the ball passed the keeper. Akila scored our third timing her run to perfection through the defence and slotting passed the keeper. We were looking better, but still well short of the way we know we can play. Lucy scored a lovely goal, well deserved for her effort and the work she put in. It came from a scramble in the area before eventually coming to Lucy at the far post which she coolly placed in the corner. 4-0 full time.

Man of the Match as named by the referee, again going to Toni well deserved she’s having a fantastic season.

The score line flattered us, but we deserved the win, we outplayed Thorncliffe with 90% of the game taking place in their half. We were only troubled a couple of times, with their best chance coming right at the end but a fantastic save from Beth making sure we kept a clean sheet, other than that they never really looked like scoring. They seem to have come with the idea of stopping us scoring. Packing the defence and trying to catch us on the break. Most of the time they had all their players behind the ball. We made hard work of the win but a win it is and another 3 points won.

WELL DONE GIRLS SECOND IN THE LEAGUE.

Match report by Ivor

Manager comments: This was another hard earned win, 11 players behind the ball frustrating us, but we eventually broke through. 1st half we were sloppy with our passing and the midfield not taking control, the only really good thing from the first half was coming down our left side with Phoebe being outstanding and Tanya's work rate. It took a dressing down at half time before we finally woke up. Again it was frustrating as Thorncliffe defended really well. On the few occasions that we allowed them on the attack Beth was on hand, never switching off. And in the final minutes a lack of concentration nearly led to a goal but for Beth making a fantastic save. Overall a deserved win, with a better start we would have probably bagged more but that is credit to Thorncliffe for holding a strong back line.

Match Report 18th October 2008
EDLINGTON ROYALS
2 - 4
ROTHERHAM UNITED U15's
        Zoe, Kelly, Akila 2

I don’t Know where to start today. I never thought for 1 minute I’d be writing such a match report. We go in to today’s game knowing a win puts us TOP yes Top of the league. We start the day joint top on points, with Edlington top on goal difference.

We arrived at Edlington to find the pitch and goals a little on the small side. A few of the parents saying it wouldn’t suit our passing game, being small and compact.

We started well not letting Edlington settle Akila bursting through the defence bringing a smart save from the keeper, Steph was first to the loose ball finding Zoe unmarked at the far post great finish 1-0. Some of our passes were too long, we were finding it hard getting to grips with the pitch. We were playing some great football and creating plenty of chances. The best falling to Vicky trying her luck with a thunderous drive bringing a great save from the keeper. The only worry was our defence who seemed to panic every time they attacked. Akila doubled our lead after Kelly played a glorious ball through the defence with Akila off like a steam train smacking the ball past the keeper 2-0. Wasn’t long before they were causing our defence problems again though they skipped passed two lunging tackles before poking the ball passed Beth, 2-1 Beth was unlucky. Most of the game was being played in their half of the pitch. It didn’t take us long to re-establish our two goal cushion. Brilliant ball from Steph again finding Akila who took ball down and smashed it passed the keeper, 3-1 up and worthy of our lead. Bang on half time up steps Kelly with a brilliant shot just inside their half, keeper caught it but the ball spun out of her hands into the back of the net. Left the poor keeper in tears, as half time whistle blew. 4-1 and we were looking good.

The second half was very scrappy with neither side keeping the ball. The wind had picked up and was blowing into our faces making it hard to clear the ball. We were creating chances though Zoe going close a few times. Carly just wide with a brilliant turn and shot from a Kelly free kick. Our defence hadn’t settled at all and Beth saved us on a few occasions. She was having a great game. Even pulling off a brilliant double save going one way then the other. She was beaten by a deflection from the resulting corner 4-2. Full time.

Man Of The Match Beth she was brilliant.

WERE TOP OF THE LEAGUE WELL DONE GIRLS.

Match report by Ivor

Manager Comments: To be honest we didn't know what to expect going in to this game and Edlington's results looked good. On arriving and seeing the pitch was junior size was quite a shock, especially with Beth being so tall it was going to be hazardous for her.

We started great, but I think the pressure of this being to decide who would top the table outright made our defence very uncharacteristically nervous. We didn't really have much to worry about and the 2 goals conceded were basically gifted to them down to a few mistakes. Mistakes will always happen and its from these I hope we will learn. We were unlucky not to have scored more but I guess that is football.

So far this season everyone in the team has worked hard and done whatever has been asked of them. Its been a pleasure to work with you all and I hope your parents are as proud of you as I am. Well done girls.

A quick mention to the parents for the great support they are showing the team, its great to have such a supportive set of parents. In the past this hasn't always been the case, and I know this goes a long way to helping the girls play with confidence with not having the negativity on the sidelines.

ASTON
Toni 3, Akila 2, Kelly 2, Steph 2, Amy, Vicky, Anna, Lucy, Beth

It was a cold windy morning at Silverwood, with a 10.30 kick off. it’s the first time I can remember starting a game at the top of the league. The girls were happy and relaxed, maybe a little too relaxed. When Aston arrived we couldn’t believe our eyes they only had 8 players.

We started in our usual way, you know half asleep. Aston with just 8 players started really well. They were first to the ball and we were chasing.  Our first opportunity fell to Akila beating the offside but pulled it wide. It didn’t take us long to take the lead though with a wonderful goal from Steph. We were now playing better, but still not with any conviction. We put Kinny up front to get that elusive goal and was making some good runs going close several times, but either put it just wide or the keeper saved it. Carly broke into the box and was sent crashing to the ground, the referee pointing to the spot. Up stepped Steph to double our lead but puts it over the bar. Still 1-0. We’re not playing well, its very messy but to be honest we didn’t need too. The game being played mostly in their half. We got caught out a few times from over committing players and not dealing with the rare attacks, on one such attack Naomi handled in the area, penalty to Aston. We all had our hearts in our mouths, but Beth makes a great save we’re still 1-0 up. The game was being played in our opponents half for the majority and the referee was constantly blowing for offside. To be fare to the ref it was hard, because as soon as we had the ball and started to attack we had 5or 6 players all running forward and with the girls all playing out of position quite a few were offside on several occasions. A great chance for Zoe, fantastic technique but puts it just wide. Another chance falls to Anna with a great shot but blocked by the keeper, it comes out to Toni who does a great chip, 2-0. Our third was scored by Toni again after she hit the bar she followed up and tapped in the rebound 3-0. Akila then sprints away from the defence and makes it 4-0 with a fantastic chip. Kinny was running her heart out, getting chance after chance but just couldn’t find the finish, she was unlucky not to score. Akila then makes it 5-0. We were creating a hat load of chances but couldn’t finish. Amy makes it 6-0 after a strong run from Vicky who battled through the defence and was tripped, but Amy picked up the ball and the referee allowed the advantage and Amy calmly placed the ball passed the keeper. Half time we’re 6-0 up could have been a lot more.

Second half starts as the first finished with Anna making it 7. Then Kelly scored to make it 8. The game is long over as a contest just a matter of how many we can score. Vicky scores number 9, a well deserved goal for her input to the game. Beth who swapped keepers jersey at half time with Naomi, makes it 10, then Toni completes her hat trick with number 11 and then  Lucy gets number 12. It’s a white wash. Steph makes it unlucky for Aston with number 13 and finally Kelly gets our 14th, making it our biggest win so far this season.

The referee gave the Man of The Match to Kirsty for her hard work. She never gave up running. With better finishing she could have been our top scorer.

Match report by Ivor

Manager Comments: We knew today was going to be a game with a silly scoreline. Not because we know we are better, we would have been confident of winning had it been fair sides, but we knew poor Aston didn’t have 11 players, it turned out to be a bare 8 players. All credit to Aston for coming and trying to make a game of it, and they actually started the better of the 2 teams.

I think we lacked the drive and determination and with the usual slow start we seem to keep doing. That said Aston never looked like they would score and we eventually started the scoring. I am going to be perfectly honest here, we lacked any sort of discipline and shape and played a ridiculous 3 3 4 and 3 2 5 formation in the end. We wanted the goal difference to match what our nearest rivals had done. I also wanted the few players we had that still hadn’t got a goal to get one, but it kind of got out of hand and the players that scored 2, then wanted hat tricks and it got silly. Poor Kinny could have been in double figures but it just wasn’t mean’t to be. Both our Keepers looked freezing and bored.

We didn’t really take advantage of what could have been a good chance to work on a few things. The game was really a case of attack vs defence. From my point of view, a lesson learned and I don’t think I will be doing that again. Not an ideal game to lead us into the Cup match next week.

The girls performed well and really should have had a lot more goals, this didn’t happen because I allowed us to just get silly and out of shape.

I hope the Aston players keep plugging away and get their team up to strength. They actually looked like they have a few decent players, just a shame they can’t really express themselves in the situation they are in.

BEIGHTON MAGPIES
  Akila 2

Our first cup game of the season, we go into the game unbeaten. The weather is horrid as seems to be the norm raining and cold. The pitch is very muddy and heavy.

We start the game in our normal way, slow and half asleep. The first good chance of the game falls to Beighton with their supporters shouting GOAL, but our Beth had other ideas and pulls off a magnificent save. That seems to be the wakeup call we needed and we started to pass the ball around. Were not at our best but were playing better. Zoe finds Akila with a brilliant through ball, she beats the defence and slips the ball passed the keeper. Brilliant goal 1-0! Akila not for the first time is giving the defenders a hard time, they can’t cope with her pace. We are starting to dominate the play. Akila scores her second with a lovely chip over the keeper, 2-0. Both teams were battling well, it wasn’t a brilliant half. However we had the better chances, the best of which fell to Vicky with a fierce shot from a long way out and just wide. Akila was having a superb half she showed some brilliant touches and great skill, best of which was when she turned a player in our half and ran full length of the pitch with only the keeper stopping what would have been a brilliant solo goal. Half Time 2-0.

The second half started much the same as the first. Both teams were trying hard. Beighton was getting more of the ball. They were putting us under pressure but we were holding our own and were creating chances. Vicky went off due to injury and Akila took her place at the back. We lost our way with no pace up front. Beighton got a goal back. We managed to hold on to a deserved win. We’re in the next round of the cup.

We’ll have to play better next week to beat them in the league.

Well done girls, we’re still unbeaten!

Match Report By Ivor

Manager Comments: Again the slow start, which totally puzzles me as to why we do it. I thought we dominated the 1st half, Akila was outstanding today and Beth is just absolutely fantastic. I gave the central midfield players a lot of grief today, but all credit to them for battling hard and working hard. It must have been so hard in the middle in all that mud, like running in glue. We did lose our way a little second half, but credit to Beighton playing some nice football creating a few hair raising moments, but Beth was always on hand and saved the day.

We could have beaten these convincingly had we taken our chances and had a little more composure, but that wasn’t to be and Beighton gave us a great game. This game showed us a different side to you all today, that even though you were under pressure, you all battled hard and dug in and totally deserved the win.

Fantastic again girls, well done.

The game kicked off at 10.30 the referee was a little slow and was a little on the old side. We started slowly as usual and as though we’d just got out of bed. We were making Eckington look good. Our passing was going astray; we were bunching up and generally running round like head less chickens.

It took us a long time to get into our stride, but half way through the 1st half we started to play some good football. Akila had some good chances, charging through on goal, unfortunately shooting straight at the keeper. We were then denied a clear penalty!  Akila was brought down by their keeper. The half finished 0-0 and was fairly even.

Second half didn’t start any better; we weren’t getting anything from the referee. The best move of the match came from Tanya bursting through their defense and beating the keeper at the near post. Fantastic goal! 1-0 I have to say we deserved the lead. Again, Akila was denied a clear penalty, as she was clearly up ended by their defender in the box. Again, nothing was given. Poor Akila was clearly injured and was carried from the pitch. I hope she’s better for next game. Final score, 1-0. Man of the Match was named by the referee as Beth, well done.

We didn’t play well and were lucky to win, saying that we did win 3 more points and are still top of the league with a six point lead.

Too many players weren’t switched on we obviously need to get back to playing as we know we can.

Manager Comments: Today was going to be a tricky game. In my opinion Eckington's results showed they were not going to be a pushover. We again started slow and scrappy, but to be fair to the team, we were carrying two players who were not 100% and recovering from illness and a few girls carrying injuries.

I gave my centre midfield some grief about losing out in the middle of the park, before Lee spotted they played 5 in the middle so we were out numbered. I changed that and put Amy in the middle, with Kelly and Toni and it worked, we started to win the ball. Several chances were created, but not taken, if we had taken them I could have seen today's result being a little more convincing, but credit to Eckington who grew in confidence and created some great chances for themselves and were unlucky. A fantastic finish from Tanya, who really should have bagged two goals today, for a great goal to keep our 100% record intact. Beth at the back was outstanding again and saved the day. Our back line which is proving to be very hard to break down held strong and again won with a clean sheet.

My main concern was the lack of passing today. We seemed to lose our way and only show glimpses of what we have been doing. We have to get back on track and make the ball do the work and stop swinging at the ball, kicking it anywhere and get our composure back.

Another hard fought good game of football today girls. Harder than it had to be but you deserved it. We have Eckington again next week so lets get the composure and passing back, and play better.

ROTHERHAM UNITED U15
        Akila 2

Kick off was a little later today, 11am maybe it was to give temperature  a bit more time to warm up, well it didn’t work. It was absolutely freezing. Normally now I’d say we started slowly as always, but not today, we started brilliantly playing fantastic football from the start. In the first 15 minutes we had 3 good chances. Steph was clean through and was just unlucky not to score. I don’t think Eckington knew what hit them. You could see the girls were up for it from the first whistle. Akila coming on as substitute scored with a brilliant run through the defence and slipping the ball passed the keeper. A brilliant goal.

We got nothing from the referee, he managed to miss so many blatant fouls and hand balls. We were so far in front it was worrying we were only 0-1 up. The first half ended with just the one goal scored.

The second half started, not as normal with us half asleep, we were taking the game to Eckington. It didn’t take Akila long to double our lead with a magnificent chip over their keeper into the roof of the net a truly brilliant goal, 0-2. Eckington were truly rattled as we were out playing them all over the field. Even with the referee on their side. Poor Akila was obstructed and got a shoulder in the face for her troubles but referee didn’t see it. Eckington did manage to score though, it was from a free kick when Vicky supposedly handled the ball, but just seconds before that their player clearly handled the ball and play was allowed to go on. There were quite a few of these decisions today. They got the freekick just outside the box. A well taken freekick that squeezed just inside the post, Beth had her finger tips on it, but not enough. It was hard on us, we managed to hold on and won 1-2.

Man Of The Match went to Steph well deserved for her work rate down the wing, she was unlucky not to score today.

It was a fantastic win in freezing conditions, the referee was appalling.

Well done girls still unbeaten and top of the league

Match Report By Ivor

Manager Comments: What can I say, you totally deserved the win today and in my opinion the score flattered Eckington. If it wasn't for their fantastic keeper we would have won very convincingly.

The referee today seemed to not see quite a few decisions today, especially the handballs. Come the 2nd half we were having nothing given to us, but the girls handled themselves great today.

I did a little shuffling today, with both Kelly and Akila on the bench and Zoe, who picked up an injury in training. So Amy had to step into midfield with Naomi covering for her alongside Vicky and Steph started up front with Carly. They were absolutely fantastic from the whistle and very unlucky not to be 3-0 inside 15minutes.

They all played football and looked back to normal after a drop in form recently. I hope we are over the dip now and focused again. A thoroughly deserved win today girls.

A quick mention to Naomi, who injured her back today. Hope you are better soon.

We have Thorncliffe in the cup next weekend, they were very good defensively and organised so should be another good test for you all.

THORNCLIFFE GIRLS
  Akila 2, Steph

It was a cold frosty morning for this second round cup match. I think most of us thought the game would be called off with it being so frosty, but the pitch surprisingly was really soft. Kick off was 11 O’clock today.

Well the girls started the game at a cracking pace taking the game to Thorncliffe. We were playing brilliant football. Our first goal coming from a brilliant cross field pass from Kelly, finding Akila in the box, who took her time and slotted the ball passed their keeper into the far corner. An excellent goal with some brilliant build up play. It seemed the whole of the first half was played in Thorncliffe’s half of the pitch. We were playing them off the pitch. Akila scored what looked like her second goal, with a great pass from Steph, but it was ruled out for offside. It was no surprise when we scored our second goal, brilliantly taken by Steph. We were creating some great chances. Naomi breaking through and going close, it took a good save from their keeper to deny her. First half finished 2-0.

Second half started as the first with Rotherham taking the game again to Thorncliffe. Steph was having a great game down the wing turning their defence inside out, with her running. She set up Akila for her second and our third, with a fantastic pass. We had several chances to increase our lead, one with Akila being unlucky with a back heel that went agonisingly wide of the post. Their keeper pulled off a couple of great saves from both Steph and Kelly. Again it seemed all the game was being played in their half. I can only remember Beth making 1 save, and a fantastic save it was too, she’d had nothing to do all game, but she stayed focused and alert to pull off a fantastic save to keep yet another clean sheet. The whole team played well today.

Final score 3-0. We’re in the hat for the draw for the Qtr Finals. And just as important we’re still unbeaten.

Toni had a brilliant game in midfield and was named Player Of The Match and Player Of The Month for November. Well done Toni.

Match Report By Ivor

Manager Comments: What can I say, except it was a great performance from start to finish. A few tired legs in the end but that was because they all worked so hard. We got a few injuries again, poor Naomi is in the wars of late. We lost our captain for the whole of the 2nd half but Lucy stepped in as cover along side Amy, who marshalled the back line. Toni was absolutely fantastic today, not only in her vision and passing but she won lots of tackles and disrupted any Thorncliffe play. Kelly normally gives you a goal to talk about in games like this but it wasn’t to be today, only really testing the keeper once and what a save it was. Steph was so close to being MoM for an absolutely outstanding performance but Toni stole the show. Beth again never lets us down, very little to do but when called upon ‘outstanding’. And for the rest of the team.. I could go on and on but you all played great yet again and thoroughly deserved to win. Great attitude, great spirit. Well done.

  Akila 2, Steph

It was a nice warm morning for a change. The pitch was heavy, but at least it wasn’t frozen.  Kick off was 11 am. We knew it was going to be a hard game after the last time we played them.

We started really well with Akila scoring in the first 2 minutes. If we thought it was going to be a stroll in the park we were wrong. With most of the first half played in our half of the pitch. Although they had a lot of the play they weren’t creating chances. Our defence were playing brilliantly with Vicky a rock in defence. Akila made it 2-0 with a simple header, coming from a mistake by their defender, who tried to head the ball clear only managing to head it to the far post where Akila was waiting and stuck it away. Two attacks two goals, can’t ask for more. We were awarded what looked like a dubious penalty, for hand ball in the area. With Kelly looking like she was going to take it, but didn’t really want too, up stepped Zoe who hit it well to the keepers right, but somehow she managed to get her fingers to it and turned it onto the post, gathering it at the second attempt. Zoe couldn’t believe it.

First half finished 2-0.

Second half started almost the same as the first with a fantastic pass from Zoe finding Akila who shot it just wide. We were playing the better football this half our passing improving. Steph scored our third after the keeper spilt a great cross from Kelly and Steph was there to turn it in 3-0.
That’s how it finished our defence was magnificent today. We’ve got a fantastic keeper in Beth who doesn’t have a lot to do, but when called into action is an absolute brilliant keeper. We’re still top of the league and still unbeaten.

Well done girl’s keep it up. Us parent’s are right behind you and so very proud of the whole team.

Player Of The Match today was Vicky who had a brilliant game in the centre of our defence.

Match Report By Ivor

Manager Comments: Another solid performance with both sides needing a bit of luck at times. We should have had more goals and if I am honest should have conceded 2. All credit to Handsworth for not letting their heads drop after conceding such a quick goal and for a good game of football played in the proper spirit.

We well deserved the win and always looked the more dangerous side. Anna coming back for the first time in 3 weeks, started in the heart of the defence alongside Vicky and they were both fantastic today. We seemed to be happy to allow them to have the ball in the middle of the park today and were a yard short on several ocassions, our first touch was letting us down too. On two ocassions we allowed the ball to bounce not once but twice in the area and on one ocassion, Handsworth had 3 players lining up and we all stood and watched, luckily for us the following shot went straight at Beth, who caught it. That type of play is totally unacceptable. If they had scored, it is these turning points in the games that lift sides, we have to deal with the second ball especially if we loose out on the first. This gives us a few things to work on in training.

Other than that, it was nice to see Naomi come to watch us play even though she was injured. I want to say well done to the girls who were actually all recovering from flu/cold and were coughing up their lungs but wanted to play. And a quick get well message for Amy who was missing today as she was poorly aswell.

ROTHERHAM UNITED U15
        Amy, Akila, Steph, Naomi, Zoe

It was bitterly cold today and raining heavily. All credit to the teams that they both wanted to play. We had a fantastic turn out from both players and parents. Considering the weather you couldn’t have blamed anyone for not turning up. The pitch was very wet with both goal mouths full of water and mud.

We started very well playing some fantastic football. We were creating some good chances but couldn’t put the ball away. The first goal coming from Amy. A fantastic goal, after some great passing,0-1. We were all over New Lodge and creating a lot of chances. Akila was breaking through their defence almost at will, and if it weren’t for there keeper could have been out of sight already. We were feeling sorry for their keeper who was soaked to the skin. All the play was taking place in their half of the pitch. At one stage Beth was dancing round her area trying to keep warm. Our second was scored by Akila, kept her cool and slotted past the keeper 0-2. A well deserved and taken goal. The first half ended with us 0-2 up.

The second half started as the first finished with Rotherham bossing the play. Our midfield were superb playing fantastic passing football. When New Lodge did manage an attack our defence were too good for them. Steph made it 0-3. We were enjoying the game even if we weren’t enjoying the conditions. Our girls were passing the ball around superbly. Poor Beth must have been freezing with not a lot to do. It really was one way traffic. Naomi scored our 4th. Making it 0-4 game over there was no way we were going to loose now. Zoe, Toni and Kelly were bossing midfield the passing between the three of them was fantastic. Zoe made it 0-5. That’s how it finished up.

Player Of The Match was Kelly. Well done she played well today.

Well played girls you done us proud today. The conditions were appalling but we played fantastic passing football.

Still unbeaten and sitting on top of the table.

Steph, Akila 2, Kelly 2, Amy, Carly

It was a warm dry day today, made a refreshing change. The pitch was wet and sticky. Apart from that was in good condition.

We started well enough both teams looked evenly match in the early exchanges. It took us a little time to get into our passing game. We were creating chances but didn’t look like were going to score. Our midfield started to boss the game with their passing. The breakthrough came from a brilliant pass from Toni finding Steph who turned the defence and shot just in side the post 0-1. The team as a whole were playing brilliantly passing the ball around. When Wisewood did attack our defence were superb in dealing with them. Anna was having a great game in defence, with some brilliant clearances, it was one of them that set up Akila for our second. Akila took it first time and put it pass their keeper superb goal 0-2. We had some brilliant chances to increase our lead. The best coming from Steph, with a cross come shot that hit the inside of the far post and stayed out.  Half time 0-2 up.

The second half started as the first finished with us in control. It was no surprised when we increased our lead. A well taken free kick 2 yards or so out side the area up stepped Kelly to smash it home just under the bar 0-3. Phoebe set up Akila for our fourth and her second. It was a brilliant pass which Akila took it brilliantly and tucked it pass the keeper 0-4. We were starting to wonder how many we could get. Our fifth was scored by Kelly 0-5. Amy made it 0-6 with a cracking goal from the edge of the box. Carly made it seven with a great turn inside the area and slipping the ball passed the keeper. We were willing Kelly and Akila to get their hat trick. Unfortunately the ball just wouldn’t fall to them. Full time score 0-7.

Player Of The Match went to Anna. She had a superb game in defence today.

December Player Of The Month went to Vicky, well done.

Well girl’s your still unbeaten and sitting on top of the league we cant ask for more.

It was a cold dry day for our first game of the New Year. Pitch was sticky but not too muddy. All the parents were in good spirits, and looking forward to the game.

We started poorly our girls looked half asleep, and their minds were still on Christmas. We were sloppy our passing which has been so good of late was going astray. There was no movement, no snap in their play. So it was no surprise when we went a goal down. It was definitely offside., but it stood. So for the first time this season we were behind 0-1. It was the wakeup call we needed. Steph had a great chance to equalise from a brilliant through ball from Akila, but put it just wide of the post. We were now starting to play football the way we know we can play. It took a brilliant piece of individual play from Akila to bring us level. A mix up between defence and keeper and Akila wasted no time, nicked the ball as their defender stopped to poke it passed their keeper 1-1. We were now playing some great football, Steph set Zoe up for our second with Zoe picking her spot and slotting the ball home 2-1. Toni made it 3-1 a fantastic worked goal ending with a simple tap in for Toni. Steph made it 4-1 with the best goal so far. A well worked goal from fantastic passing, simply brilliant to watch. Half time and we go in 4-1 up. We were playing brilliant football once we woke up.

Second half started like the first. We had gone to sleep again, thankfully it didn’t last long and we were soon back to playing proper football. Our fifth goal was scored by Kirsty her first for us and what a cracker. A fantastic strike gave the keeper no chance, 5-1. Zoe got our sixth and her second, it was lovely build up with great passing before Zoe finished it off with a simple tap in 6-1. Toni made it seven with her second, a good goal from a battling display 7-1. That’s how it ended. We created a lot of chances, Akila could have had a hat trick and Zoe and Steph also went close. A well deserved win in the end. We made hard work of it though too many of the girls not on their game today. Hardly surprising though, we had not played for a few weeks or trained properly.

Player Of The Match went to Vicky after another great display in defence.

Still unbeaten and top of the table well done girls !!!!!!!

Manager Comments: Well our first game back after the Christmas break and it certainly showed, for the first 20 minutes we were sloppy. We conceded the first goal which was without doubt offside but the Ref didn't see it and the goal stood. That said, if as a backline you all claim for it but at the same time it can help the Ref, but you still have to play to the whistle and on this occasion we had one shout, one half shout and the rest stopped and watched as the player was through one on one. I think even Beth thought it was going to be ruled offside because she seemed in two minds as well because it takes a lot to put a ball pass our Beth. Atleast it woke us up and we then started to play a little and started creating chances. First half ended 4-1 so it made up for what I thought was a very poor first half display.

We came out second half and made more chances than I could count and unbelievably only managed to score 3 goals. A few players were in the running for MoM, Steph who must have run 10miles and put in another fantastic display. Toni, not only for her goals, but her passing and battling today was outstanding. Naomi, who looked a natural striker when chucked up front , how she never got a goal I don't know, but her link up play was top class. And Vicky who sneaked the MoM with another battling, Captains display and deserved it, Well Done.

We got stuff to work on, mainly fitness so don't be moaning when we run you a lot. Overall though girls, you might have looked off but still managed to score 7 goals, 1 conceded that shouldn't have been allowed and more importantly another 3pts and you deserved the win. I was a little disappointed though, even after winning 7-1... because I know you are a lot better than what you showed today.

EDLINGTON ROYALS
  Akila, Kirsty 2, Carly

We faced one of the better teams in the league today. Weather wasn’t too bad, although it started to rain just as we kicked off. At least it didn’t last long. We had a couple of key players missing too.

We started as normal slowly, looking as though we were still asleep. We were playing the better football but Edlington were creating the better chances.  It took us half the first half to wake up and start playing the football we know we can play. The first goal came from Akila with a gut bursting run through their defence before tucking the ball passed their keeper. A brilliant goal well taken 1-0 up.  A lapse in concentration allowed Edlington back in. We finish the half all square 1-1. We were missing Toni in midfield today with her calming effect and range of passing.

Second half started better  we started playing our passing game.  We were still managing to get caught on the break.  We knew the next goal would be very important.  Lucky it was us who scored. It came from some great play and finished with Kinny chipping the keeper. What a brilliant finish.  2-1. We are playing great football and deserved the lead. We were creating chances Akila went close. Kelly had a great shot saved by the keeper, Carly pounced on the loose ball, and tucked it away. 3-1. We were playing some fantastic football with passing and moving. Kinny made it 4-1 she had an outstanding game today. A girl who a few weeks ago never looked like scoring a goal got 2 today. Full time 4-1 winners.

Player Of the Match was named as Kinny. Well done topped a fantastic display today.

An away visit to Handsworth for the rearranged cup game today. The weather was kind to us nice day pitch was heavy though but at least it wasn’t frozen.

Both teams started well playing good attacking football. Handsworth was putting us under some good early pressure. Winning a few corners. It took us a little while to get a foot hold on the game. We were creating the better chances. The best chance came when Akila chipped  the keeper but hit the bar and Naomi following up couldn’t force the ball in. Akila was causing them allsorts of problems with her pace but couldn’t score. Our break though came with a piece of pure brilliance from Steph. Anna crossed from the left and found Steph with her back to goal, Steph turned the defender and belted the ball on the volley into the top corner of the net, giving the keeper no chance. What a brilliant goal Stephanie. 1-0 up and well deserved. All though Handsworth put us under a lot of pressure Beth didn’t have a save to make. Half time 1-0.

The second half started as the first had finished. We were playing some lovely football. Creating a lot of chances. Akila must have left her shooting boots at home. She had no luck in front of goal at all today. On another day she could have had a hat full. The best move of the half came from an Akila cross, it was just a little to high for Carly in the middle of the goal. We were defending brilliantly our midfield was running the game. Beth didn’t have a serious save to make all game.
Final score 1-0.

Player Of The Match went  to Lucy. Well done Lucy!!!!
To be honest today there was a lot of players in contention. The team as a whole were superb today. Were unbeaten and into the semi finals of the cup.

MILLMOOR JUNIORS
  Akila, Steph

Our first game for almost a month, and its our biggest of the season so far. Facing Millmoor Juniors from the league above us at home. A place in the final awaiting the winners.

We made a brilliant start Akila racing through their defence and slotting the ball passed the keeper 1-0 up and barely a minute on the clock. We were looking nervous, we were panicking when we had the ball. We were the better team though and deserved to be in front. We were creating good chances but couldn’t increase our lead. We couldn’t hold on to our lead their equalizer coming from a corner. We just couldn’t get it clear there was a bit of a scramble and the ball ended up in the net  1-1. The goal seemed to give them renewed hope, and they put us under more pressure.  Akila had a great chance chipped the keeper unfortunately it went just wide. Half time and were level 1-1.

We were playing some good football, we just couldn’t find the net. We went 1-2 down from another corner, we just couldn’t get the ball clear. Beth at full stretch couldn’t push it over, ball fell just below the bar and in. Things got worse for us as we conceded again 1-3 we were having trouble getting the ball clear, we didn’t deserve to be 1-3 down. We were playing the better football and creating the better chances. Steph got a goal back a brilliant finish it was just a little too late. Game finished 2-3.

Akila got Player of The Match.

We were unlucky today our name just wasn’t to be on the cup. We were the better team by far. A lot of the girls were upset at final whistle, you didn’t let yourselves or the team down. We parents are very proud of you girls.

ROTHERHAM UNITED U15
        Steph 3, Akila 2, Zoe

An away visit to Aston the reverse fixture earlier in season gave us our biggest  win of the season so far. Again Aston could only field 8 players. We were all in great spirit knowing a win today and we’d be CHAMPIONS!

We started well enough, but were getting caught off side too many times.  The size of the pitch wasn’t helping its very short and narrow, it wasn’t helping our passing game. With passes going too long. We created a lot of chances but either we were hitting the ball too far in front of us, and giving the goalie an easy ball, or we were caught off side. Akila had our early chances putting them just wide. Our first goal came from Steph. A fierce low shot  and although the keeper got her hand too it she couldn’t keep it out 1-0. It was just one way football Beth was looking very relaxed with not much to do. Akila made it 2-0 beating the offside trap and putting it passed their keeper. Akila added the third a well taken and deserved goal 3-0. Steph made it 4-0 with a brilliant goal. Looks like were on to a good win and the league title. As the half time whistle went.

Half Time 4-0 2 goals a piece for Steph and Akila.

Second half and we were under a little pressure with Aston coming forward. They never really troubled Beth though who had a fairly quiet game. Zoe got our fifth after Akila hit the inside of the post and some how stayed out Zoe following up had a simple tap in 5-0. Steph made it six with a penalty. Amy was brought down in the area and Steph stepped up for the penalty. Scored but the ref disallowed it for encroachment. Steph kept her cool and put the ball in the opposite corner great goal 6-0.Steph gets her hat trick. The only disappointment on such a fantastic day was injures to Naomi and Vicky. Luckily neither injury was as bad as first thought.

Player Of The Match went to Steph. Well done Steph !!!

Our first game since being crown CHAMPIONS and were away. The pitch is uneven and lumpy. It’s a very windy day.

The game is very flat not a lot of action, we’re having the majority of the play. The wind isn’t helping our passing going astray. Were creating chances but not getting any luck.  There goalie made a great save to deny  Akila. Zoe with a fantastic shot some how the keeper kept it out. Next up was Carly with a great chance denied by the keeper again. Our best chance of the game fell to Phoebe with the keeper beaten looked like our break though only for her shot to some how be cleared off the line. Will it be one of those days?

Half time 0-0.

Second half started well we upped the pressure and were pushing Thorncliffe back. Our break through came from Carly with a truly brilliant goal. After getting fouled on the edge of the area could easily of gone down looking for a free kick. Instead despite being in pain took the ball on kept her cool n slotted it passed the approaching keeper. 0-1. Anna with another great chance just over the bar, should have been 0-2. Akila great goal to make it 0-2, put the game out of their reach. It took us a long time to get the second. Well deserved win poor Beth hardly seen the ball all game.

Andy managed to swap games around so as we play our last game of a really exciting season at home. As we approach our last two games of the season we remain unbeaten in the league. I must say hand on heart, as no doubt most of us parents would agree , I didn't for one minute thing we would be this close to the end of the season unbeaten and CHAMPIONS sounds good that don’t it  C H A M P I O N S.

Its our first meeting with Beighton due to the weather earlier on in the season. It’s a very scrappy start to the game but both teams playing some good football. We’re by far the better side. Our break through came after a free kick from Kelly just outside the area. Went in off their own player trying to clear it. 0-1. Well deserved lead. We gifted them a way back after a mix up in our defence and we gave away a silly free kick from which the got the equaliser 1-1. We were gutted. Just before half time we get a corner smacked in by Kelly, their keeper fumbled and Toni’s there to hit it home 1-2 back in front. Half time 1-2, well done girls.

The second half started as the first ended with us playing the better football. Only concern was we were not taking our chances. It’s a very tight game Beighton are easily the best team we’ve played in the league this season. As full time approaches Beth is injured and goes off with a bleeding nose so Vicky goes in goal. We cant seem to get out of our half as they push for the equalizer. Which they get after a corner right on full time 2-2.  Full time 2-2.

We didn’t deserve that result we played the better football.

Player Of The Match Kelly. Well Done Kelly had a great game.

The first points we’re dropped all season girls were gutted.

Our last game of the season has arrived. I cant believe the season has come to an end already. Its flown past, but what a season we’ve had.

It’s a very cold windy day. Our girls were in party mood before we kicked off, so upbeat and ready for the match. We started the game well with great pressure. Unfortunately I missed a lot of the game with Harry getting so cold, I think today though was more about not loosing and celebrating the fantastic season the team has had. We were still 0-0 at half time.  Harry and I managed to rejoin the game with half hour to go with the score still 0-0. We were the better team passing and movement was good. We didn’t seem to be in any danger of loosing the game. Akila made sure we remained unbeaten with a brilliant goal 5 minutes from time. We held out to win 1-0 a fantastic end to a truly fantastic season.

Steph was named Player Of The Match well done Steph & Kelly was named Player Of The Month well done Kelly.

The girls have done us proud, its been a fantastic journey for us parents stood on the touch line. Going all season unbeaten and only dropping 2 points.

What a celebration we had at the end of the game. It was great seeing the girls so happy spaying each other n some of us unlucky parents with champagne. I know us parents have had a brilliant time supporting the team. I know one or two parents have done a lot of shouting from the touch line ha ha . I don’t have to say who they are. The season has ended too soon for me.  Its been great fun!!!!!!

I want to say its been a privilege reporting on such a wonderful brilliant season.

Congratulations Girls on a fantastic season

Manager Comments: All I want to add to this is Well Done Girls. You totally deserved to win the league. This has been achieved by your match performances on the back of your total commitment throughout the year in training. I couldn't have asked for anymore from you and you have made me proud to have been your manager. I think a big thank you is in order for Lee who just eats and sleeps football and then has football again for dessert. I know he shouts a lot but that is to get the most out of you all and we couldn't have done it without his help. I think the parents need a mention too, for being 100% behind the team and supporting not just the players but myself aswell, so thank you parents.

Very proud of you all.
