ROTHERHAM UNITED U18
4 - 1
SHEFFIELD UNITED U18

Rotherham started brightly controlling the game with some accurate passing that was testing the Sheffield defence which was holding firm, from this attacking play Rotherham forced a number of corners and it was only a matter of time before the breakthrough was to come, from a corner Sheffield cleared to the middle of the park the ball was collected by a Rotherham player who played a defence splitting ball through which was controlled by Caroline Norton who placed a right footed shot into the far corner of the net 1-0. From the restart Sheffield started to build some pressure and were rewarded when from a lobbed ball into the area Sheffield's forward slid in to guide the ball home 1-1.

Sheffield took heart from this and started to attack the Rotherham defence which held firm. Rotherham slowly started to regain some grip on the game and in the 30th minute re took the lead, from another corner the ball was cleared out of the box but straight to Meg Poppleton who from 25yds curled a right footed shot high into the net 2-1, this settled Rotherham and they started to take control of the game, 2 minutes from halftime Rotherham got the crucial 4th goal, a well worked 4 man move ended with Caroline Norton grabbing her 2nd of the game with a well placed shot past the keepers despairing dive Half Time 3-1.

The second half started frantically and the next goal would be crucial to both sides. Rotherham again held the upper hand and but for some brave keeping from the Sheffield keeper the scoreline would have been higher. Rotherham made a couple of substitutions to freshen up the game and it was from 1 of these changes that the next goal came, again from a corner which was swung in from the right the ball was flicked on at the near post to Emma Maskrey who side footed into the corner of the net 4-1.

Sheffield started to create a few chances of their own and from 1 of these chances they nearly scored, a well worked move ended with a shot from 20yds which was well held by Rotherham's keeper. Rotherham gradually took hold on the game and saw out the final minutes comfortably to secure their 7th win of the season.

Full time 4-1.
